What is the course about?
This course is a total of 10 guided learning hours of theory and practice, where you will learn to create a least two landscape paintings of substantial quality.
You will start off by researching and creating images to transfer to your landscape, using a traditional scaling and drawing method and learn to use colour and tone by producing your own individual palette appropriate to your subject matter.
You will then be able to experiment with mixing, blending, application methods, techniques and styles of acrylic.
In between, we will examine and discuss the nature and range of landscape painters and some historical periods i.e. French Impressionism.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
Some drawing and painting knowledge or skills would be an advantage but all welcome.
What do I need to bring with me?
A4 sketchbook, pencil, charcoal stick, rubber, acrylic painting paper or boards;
Acrylic painting set (minimum: black, white, ultramarine, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, raw umber);
Palette, painting knife, jam jar;
Small and large brushes both round and square/flat;
Newspapers, paper towels.
Are there any additional costs?
You will need to buy items from the above list. Please bring what you can and further information and approximate costs will besupplied by the tutor on the first session.
