We are looking for sessional Tutors across West Sussex to support our All About Me courses as part of our Building Better Opportunities (BBO) projects.

Building Better Opportunities is an exciting collaboration that aims to meet the needs for families living in West Sussex, who remain the most excluded from the workforce. These courses will focus on supporting parents to break down the barriers which prevent them from getting into work or further learning.

We are currently recruiting tutors for a 7 week period (term time only); please see the provisional course dates below:

  • Mondays in Worthing, 9.15-11.45, commencing 8th October 2018
  • Tuesdays in Chichester, 9.15-11.45, commencing 30th October 2018
  • Fridays in Bognor Regis, 9.15-11.45, commencing 14th September 2018
  • Fridays in Lancing, 9.15-11.45, commencing 7th September 2018
  • Littlehampton, times TBC, commencing 11th September 2018

Following the above we will be running another set of 7 week courses from January – April 2019. There may also be an opportunity to work 1:1 with students to help them get back into work.

Applicants should have a Level 3 or higher teaching qualification or have a willingness to enrol onto a Level 3 teaching course, along with previous experience within Family Learning or Employability Skills. Aspire Sussex Ltd is a charity which has been providing adult and community education in – and beyond – West Sussex since 2012. We wish to appoint new trustees to our Board and would be particularly interested in receiving applications from individuals who have a Marketing, Finance or Law background and who are passionate about education.

Board and sub-committee meetings are usually held in Burgess Hill. The time commitment needed is around 50 hours per year, which includes attending about 12 meetings per year.

Please note that trustees are unpaid, although expenses – such as travel to meetings – are reimbursed.

Volunteer Receptionists
Chichester & Crawley

Volunteering with Aspire provides an opportunity to meet and work with a diverse group of people in a fun environment, while at the same time inspiring members of the local community to learn, enjoy and achieve.

We are currently looking for volunteer receptionists to support our Chichester office, for a variety of hours between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, and our Crawley office from 6pm – 8:30pm Monday to Thursday. When applying, please state on your application form the centre that you wish to support, along with the days/times that you are available. As a volunteer receptionist, the work that you might get involved with will vary depending upon the needs of the centre, however some examples include: meeting, greeting & escorting students to classes, preparing registers and producing letters.

Administrative experience is desirable however we offer all of our volunteers full training to support them in their role, as well as the opportunity to undertake a course with Aspire as part of their continuing professional development.

Volunteers are entitled to claim travel expenses to and from the venue where they are based; the rate is 45p per mile up to a maximum of £7.20 per session.

Learning Support Volunteer Opportunities

We currently have opportunities for volunteers to support tutors in the following areas:

  • Maths
  • ESOL (English for speakers of other languages)
  • ALD (for adults with learning difficulties)

As a volunteer, you will support students, either individually or in small groups, who want to improve their skills for work, for everyday life or to help their children at school. You will be working under the guidance of a qualified tutor at all times.

We offer all of our volunteer’s full training to support them in their role, as well as the opportunity to undertake a course with Aspire as part of their continuing professional development.
