What is the course about?
This is an introductory course designed for those who would like to sample and build upon a wide range of drawing and painting techniques, whilst developing a positive mind-set in what can be achieved using a step by step approach. You will explore or hone any existing skills through both representational exercises and create abstracts using both wet and dry materials in a variety of techniques. Techniques using a range of media are covered including; pencil, pastel, charcoal, crayons, and water based paints. You will sharpen and develop your observational drawing, using line, shading and texture; perspective and composition and work with colour theory and mixing, using acrylic techniques.
Your tutor will help you set personal goals for you to aim for and provide regular feedback on how you are doing. All lessons will have learning aims which the tutor will share with you and they will track how you are progressing throughout the course and keep you informed.
In the instance of a Government imposed lockdown, this course will pause until it is able to begin again. No refunds will be made due to a Government imposed lockdown.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
The course is aimed at beginners and is for those who want to pursue their artistic development in a supportive group environment.
What do I need to bring with me?
Bring along any art materials you already have or would like to learn to use. Your tutor will give you plenty of support and advice as to which materials you might like to explore on the course. Please bring a pencil, cartridge paper and eraser.
Are there any additional costs?
Your tutor will signpost you to places where you can purchase art materials that are affordable and/or specific. The basic art materials for both drawing and painting to get you started will cost in the region of £20 in total.
