What is the course about?
This course will guide you through a variety of techniques you can use to create charcoal drawings with impact. We will be looking at mark making, putting on and wiping off, textural techniques, drawing skills and tonal values. Tips will also be given on the use of chalk with charcoal for added effect.. We will also be looking at the techniques and styles of different artists who work with this expressive medium and emphasis will be placed on artistic licence and expression. This course is suitable for beginners
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
No experience is necessary
What do I need to bring with me?
Charcoal = Coates is poor quality, Winsor and Newton are the best or Rowney as second choice for quality. Charcoal pencil.
Photo resources and still life will be provided
Please bring refreshments and a packed lunch.
