What is the course about?
This course is a Learning for Life, and will provide you with the opportunity to learn skills such as:
Control your laptop using the settings app
Performing basic system maintenance
Ending hung processes that are freezing your window or monitor
Take photos of error messages
Securing your PC against virus
Solve basic problems
Back-up your computer
Connect to the Wi-Fi
Troubleshoot printer problems
Typical activities for this course
Uninstall an unused/ old program
Perform a defragmentation (tidy up the storage of your computer)
Scan the system for viruses
Browse the internet to find solutions for a problem that occurred
Create a screenshot to save an error message
Setup a regular back-up
Discuss anti-malware software such as Windows Defender
Using File Explorer to copy/move files/rename/delete files
Undelete files from the recycling bin.
Discuss the benefits of cloud computing and Window’s OneDrive
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This is not a beginner’s course and is suitable for students that have been on the Computer Skills Improvers and want to learn how to control their laptop or desktop computer. Students must be confident in a least one package such as Microsoft Excel.
