What is the course about?
This is a free online taster session for parents, guardians and carers and their children in Reception and Year one, who are currently remote learning in West Sussex.
This is a fun one-hour family learning phonics session where you will work together with your child, led by a qualified primary school teacher, to understand more about the terms that teachers and children use, the different phonics schemes and best of all have some fun with games to play with your child, to make learning phonics at home easier.
Family Learning sessions are here to support you and your child(ren) with home learning, mental well-being and parenting support during lockdown, and beyond.
This is an online course delivered using Teams, in real time with live interaction with your tutor and fellow learners and their children. Learners will join the class from home and be able to exchange and interact with other learners as they would in the classroom.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
You don’t need any previous experience to attend these sessions, just an interest in finding out some fun and creative ideas to support your child with home learning. Please don’t worry that you think you don’t know about this subject to help your child – that’s what Family Learning is for.
What do I need to bring with me?
Have your pens, pencils and paper ready to take part in the activities in this session.

Are there any additional costs?
No, Aspire Family Learning courses are free to residents of West Sussex.
