ESOL: Functional Skills English (L1490AD20)

What is the course about?

This course is for those wishing to live and work in the UK and wanting to improve their English skills. Our courses range from pre-entry to Entry 3. Our classes run twice a week for 2.5 hours for 16 weeks (totalling 5 hours per week/80 hours per term). Each term you cover a specific skill:-
Speaking & Listening, Reading or Writing and is designed to help prepare you for a nationally recognised Trinity College ESOL exam. Once you have passed a practice paper you will be entered for an exam. The dates for the exams are to be confirmed. Entry 3 and above is equivalent to B1 and above. This course will not prepare you for your Life in the UK test but does cover elements of citizenship and British values.
This is a very intensive course and a minimum of 80% attendance is required before entry for an exam is considered.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

We have separate classes for beginners and advanced learners. You will have an initial assessment before you start to check your level and help us choose the right class for you. If you already have a qualification from another college, please bring your certificates with you. If you wish to check which level you are at, a leaflet is available upon request.

What do I need to bring with me?

A pen, a notebook to write in, a bilingual dictionary and a folder to keep your work in. Please also see venue details for online requirements
