What is the course about?

In the instance of a Government imposed lockdown if this course cannot be moved to online it will be paused until it is able to begin again. No refunds will be made due to a Government imposed lockdown.

The aim of the course is to introduce and develop some techniques of painting in watercolours that will help to build your confidence in this medium. This course will cover a wide range of watercolour techniques, including flat, overlaid, graded and blended washes. You will also be shown simple ways to gain confidence in colour mixing and some exciting texture techniques. As a guide, by the end of the course you will have produced samples of watercolour techniques, colour mixing charts and several finished pieces of work.
Your tutor will help you set personal goals for you to aim for and provide regular feedback on how you are doing. All lessons will have learning aims which the tutor will share with you and they will track how you are progressing throughout the course and keep you informed.
This is a practical course with lots of opportunities for getting hands-on experience using a wide variety of techniques and media.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This course is for beginners, those who have been using watercolours for less than 2 years and those who wish to revive skills learnt long ago. You will be encouraged to improve your drawing ability alongside learning about watercolours.

A3 pad of Cold Pressed watercolour paper Tubes of watercolour paints: Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Lemon, Cadmium Red, Permanent Alizarin, Cerulean Blue and French Ultramarine, or the nearest equivalent to these 6 colours.
