What is the course about?
In the instance of a Government imposed lockdown, this course will pause until it is able to begin again. No refunds will be made due to a Government imposed lockdown
The aim of the course is to continue to develop communication skills in practical situations for students with previous experience of Spanish who want to develop their understanding of the language and culture and who perhaps intend to use the Spanish language on holiday or for work. The emphasis will be on developing all four skills areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. There will also be a focus on building further understanding of the structure of the language which will be introduced systematically throughout the course and integrated into the topics. Learning is supported with texts of current interest which give an insight into the culture behind the language. Topics include your environment, daily routines, shopping, food and drink, health and fitness, holidays and travel. As a guide, by the end of the course you should be able to: Take part in dialogues, discuss familiar topics, giving opinions, and discussing advantages and disadvantages. Understand spoken Spanish in familiar contexts. Read written texts on topics of interest to you, for example news reports, using strategies to help decipher unfamiliar language. Write on topics studied, successfully communicating your message.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
This is course is for students with some previous knowledge of the language, who may have completed two years study with Aspire or have some previous (but not necessarily recent) knowledge of the language. If you are unsure of your level, please contact your local centre for further assistance. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available from the centres and at the website address above. This course is designed to improve and sustain your language skills keeping your mind active and alert.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pen and paper. At the first session your tutor will discuss with you the purchase of a suitable dictionary and textbook.
