The aim of this course is to enable community groups such as charities, churches, school PTA's, fete organisers and other social groups gain an understanding of the basic principles of food safety. Students will develop an understanding of the common hazards associated with catering for social gatherings and community events, and learn how to control these hazards to ensure food safety. You will gain an appreciation of the importance of personal hygiene, design of food preparation facilities, pest control and cleaning regimes and how these link to food safety.
