What is the course about?
This 5 week course is a structured introduction to basic pastel skills. Starting with basic techniques and the use of the materials. You will then be introduced to mark-making, textures, lines and tones. You’ll learn ways to ‘see like an artist’; and have fun experimenting with different approaches to representational drawing, including using colour. The sessions will be tutor led with demonstrations, discussions, group tuition and one-to-one help and support.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
You do not need any prior knowledge or experience to attend this course.
What do I need to bring with me?
Pastels: a box or chalk pastels.
Pastel paper pad or coloured sugar paper for practise.
A putty rubber, cotton buds or blending stump.
You may also like to try pastel pencils, you could bring a small selection, although not necessary for this 5 week introduction.
Pastels can be messy so you may also like to bring wet-wipes of kitchen roll for your hands.
Notebook and pen.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs to attend this course. Although you may like the tutor to suggest additional equipment for future projects.
