What is the course about?

The course will cover a step-by-step guide to basic painting and drawing techniques, how to make marks and create images, using wet and dry materials and techniques, styles and themes of the works of major artists.
Your tutor will help you set personal goals for you to aim for and provide regular feedback on how you are doing. All lessons will have learning aims which the tutor will share with you and they will track how you are progressing throughout the course and keep you informed.
You will learn in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to encourage you to paint, enabling you to progress at your own pace and gain more confidence in your skills and ability, whilst exploring a wide range of drawing and painting techniques.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

This course is designed for those looking to develop their creativity alongside others in the community.

What do I need to bring with me?

Although these materials will not all be used for the first session, it is encouraged that you get a selection of equipment before the start of the course. Sharpener, Sketchbook, range of hard (H) and soft pencils (B), charcoal sticks. Different sized cartridge papers A4, A5, A6 are generally useful. Masking tape or drawing pins, rubbers (putty rubber is useful). Medium sized brushes, Jar, rags and palette. Black, white and burnt umber acrylic paints. A selection of watercolour paints, either tube or block Most good stationary shops will assist in guidance for the above items drawing board/easel (optional).

Are there any additional costs?

Additional costs for this course will be drawing and painting materials as required by the individual student.
