Drill Hall, Horsham
11:00 - 13:00
2 hours x 5 sessions
What is the course about?
The focus of classical mythology is often upon the men, the great heroes of the ancient world such as Hercules, Theseus and Jason. In this course we will examine the rôle of women in some of the stories: from goddesses to wives; from strong independent women to those who seemingly appear only as a prop to their men.
We will examine not only the tales that come down to us from antiquity, but also the reception of these women in later times through literature and works of art.
