What is the course about?
This course will introduce the origins and practice of a nineteenth-century style founded on nature, morality and idealism. It encompassed objects from the everyday to the luxurious; on a scale from architecture to jewellery; and influences our lives today.
From social reform to new formal ideas, inspiration from nature and truth to materials inspired by the work of Morris and Webb, Dresser, Ashbee and Voysey created new aesthetics and ways of working.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
No formal qualifications are needed . This course is suitable for all abilities, from complete beginners to those who already have some knowledge of houses, art and architectural history
What do I need to bring with me?
Illustrations, optional bibliography, books and visual examples will be provided, and students are welcome to bring in any additional material to look at and discuss. You may like to bring a notepad.
Are there any additional costs?
A visit to a site may be organised with additional costs for transport and admission
