What is the course about?
During this course you will develop a greater understanding of the techniques involved in the application of French Polishing. Through demonstrations & practical involvement, you will be taught the correct ways to repair individual piece of furniture, using traditional methods. Discover how to use dowels, liquid hide glue, & veneers, applicable to the era. Professional oil & water based stains & finishes will be used.
Owing to the diversity of the projects, learners will be inspired by what they encounter during the course.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
No formal qualifications are needed, but an enthusiasm for the subject is essential.
This workshop is suitable for all abilities, but a basic knowledge of hand tools would be useful.
Please note that students who have attended the previous course will be shown new techniques or be able to widen the techniques they have learnt.
What do I need to bring with me?
Please wear old clothing, & bring an apron, or overall. Though materials and tools are supplied, it may be useful to bring along any DIY tools you have, such as screwdrivers, extra sandpaper, paint scrapers and rubber gloves.

There are no additional costs on this course.
What can I do next?
You can join the nextcourse in French Polishing and Restoration in order to expand onyour skills.There is also a course on making a simple dolls house , you may like to enrol on. You may like to discuss these options with your Tutor. Or you may like to try more Restoration at home, using the skills you have learnt.
