What is the course about?

Learning for work. This course aims to help students improve and enhance their everyday (functional) reading, writing, speaking and listening skills at a level which is appropriate to them (determined by a prior initial Assessment). The course covers English skills such as spelling, punctuation and grammar and also covers practical day to day English tasks such as letter and email writing. Students will also learn about speech and presentation preparation, take part in writing and every day reading activities and will also take part in speaking and listening tasks. Students will be entered for online exams which they will sit at an Aspire centre, when their tutor thinks it is appropriate based on their progress.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

The course is for anyone who wishes or needs to improve their everyday reading and writing skills. Students for this course will have to complete an initial assessment (provided by Aspire) and be found to be at the appropriate level for this course before they will be able to enrol

What do I need to bring with me?

Paper, writing equipment and a folder to organise your notes and work.

Are there any additional costs?

You may need to purchase an appropriate revision guide. Your tutor will discuss this with you.
