What is the course about?

The aim of this online course is to introduce learners to producing drawings with shading to create a 3D effect. It will establish how to look for the basic shapes and relationship lines in an object or photograph to start a drawing and add appropriate shading to create a realistic effect.

What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?

No previous experience is required, just a desire to develop artistic skills especially in drawing. As a mixed ability course, the tutor will respond accordingly to students’ abilities and experience.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please bring a 2B pencil, eraser and sketch pad.

Are there any additional costs?

Not for this course. The tutor will recommend artist quality pencils and paper which range in price from Derwent 2B pencil £1.55 to Caran D’Ache £2.75; A4 sketch pad, 50 sheets, 135gsm weight from £3.99 upwards.
