What is the course about?
This is a Learning for Personal Interest course.
This course will enable you to develop your creative awareness and enjoyment of photography using camera functions and experimentation. You will develop your awareness of different genres of photography and gain inspiration and learn from the masters. The course will also cover basic camera functions and settings to alter picture outcomes, composition and presentation within creative project work.
All lessons will have learning aims which the tutor will share with you and they will track how you are progressing throughout the course and keep you informed.
During the course, you will undertake small projects, encouraging you to look at the world differently with your camera and to be as creative as possible with the medium.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
The course is suitable for the Digital SLR (or similar Bridge) camera owner with limited technical knowledge, who would like to increase their awareness of camera functions, build on confidence levels photographing in a variety of situations, and find new areas of interest.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need a DSLR camera and instruction manual along with a pen and notepad and a tripod is strongly recommended. If you do not own one yet, suggestions will be made during the first part of the course. Field trips - Some work out of doors may be included (weather permitting) to enrich your photographic learning experience. Please inform the office if this is likely to be a problem for you. Suitable footwear/ clothing is advised for all classes.
Are there any additional costs?
The purchase of a suitable workbook will be required. Participants will also be expected to produce their own photographs for class assessment. There may be some costs attached to the field trips, these will be discussed and agreed in advance.
