What is the course about?

This course has been developed in a way that will enable you to progress from an absolute beginner to a competent, independent user of the computer, internet an email. You will be introduced to the mouse and keyboard and given the opportunity to build your confidence with the computer in a jargon-free and friendly environment. The start of the course will cover the use of the mouse and keyboard and will progress to creating folders, creating documents, saving documents and editing documents. You will also learn how to use the internet efficiently and safely, and send emails. As a guide, by the end of the course you should be able to: Develop your use of mouse controls; Open; create; edit and save a simple document Carry out basic formatting techniques such as changing font colour and size Know the difference between ˜save™ and ˜save as™ Identify computer and Internet security tools Find specific information on the internet and send an email Carry out basic computer maintenance Identify error messages and updates.
What previous experience, knowledge or qualifications do I need for this course?
Students should know how to turn a computer on and off, how to use space, enter and delete and other parts of the keyboard. They should also be able to create a document, print and save it using Microsoft Word.
What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to bring a pen and notepad.
